WhyteDOT. - Sustainability features
Here you can learn all about the sustainability aspect of your new WhyteDOT sonic toothbrush.
Introduce your brand
While around 95% of electric toothbrushes on the market are made of plastic, at WhyteDOT. we have consciously chosen an aluminum housing—not just for its aesthetics and premium feel, but also for its superior sustainability.

Raw material extraction & energy consumption
The production of primary aluminum from bauxite is, of course, energy-intensive—we don't want to downplay that.
However, unlike plastic, aluminum can be recycled almost indefinitely, and recycling requires only about 5% of the energy compared to primary production.
And what about plastic?
Plastic production is based on fossil resources and is also energy-intensive. In addition, plastic recycling is inefficient, since many plastics cannot be recycled or can only be recycled a few times—ultimately becoming a burden on the environment.

Recyclability & lifespan
Aluminum:
Aluminum products can be almost completely recycled without loss of quality. About 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in circulation. For us, that’s reason enough to prioritize this material for our sonic toothbrush.
Plastic:
Plastics have limited recyclability and decompose very slowly, leading to long-term environmental impact.
Of course, we are not completely free of plastic yet. While the brush handle is made of high-quality aluminum, other components like our dental-grade brush heads or our travel case are made of plastic.
We are not satisfied with this in the long term and are continuously working to make our products even more sustainable.

Summary: Advantages of aluminum over plastic
Aluminum is clearly superior to plastic in terms of sustainability.
Although primary production is energy-intensive, aluminum can be recycled almost indefinitely – using only about 5% of the original energy expenditure. Over 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today.
Plastic, on the other hand, is based on fossil resources, is often difficult to recycle, and quickly becomes a disposable product – with long-term environmental consequences due to microplastics.
Aluminum also impresses with its durability, stability, and value – qualities that not only extend a product's lifespan but also conserve resources.
With the aluminum housing of the WD.1, we consciously choose a material that combines design, quality, and ecological responsibility.
